Are you ready for 'The Great British Switch-Off'?

Are You Ready For The Great British Switch-Off

The nation’s network is changing and it’ll soon be the end of the line for some copper broadband customers.

Stop sell has started, here’s what it means for you.

Stop sell will take effect in 2023 and refers to stopping the sale of the copper twisted pair cables that connect every premises in the UK to their local telephone exchange.

Following on from stop sell, in late 2025 we will witness the switch off, retiring the analogue telephone network used for calls.

However, the stop sell won’t be achieved with a simple flick of the switch, it requires time to implement a replacement full fibre infrastructure which is already underway.

What are your options?

  • Fibre Leased Line – The ultimate in connectivity, giving speeds of up to a gigabit, even during peak hours. If your workforce is dependent on connectivity, leased lines give you the power to support your evolving technology needs.

  • Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) – This offers the latest in broadband technology, giving up to gigabit speeds at a reduced cost when compared to traditional leased lines.

  • Single-Order Generic Ethernet Access (SOGEA) – This is a replacement for traditional broadband services, often referred to as Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC). With more and more businesses heading towards a hosted voice service rather than an analogue phone system, SOGEA is paving the way for the future of telecoms.

The switch-off isn’t only something that will have an effect from 2023, it’s already underway with exchanges commencing stop sell throughout the year. However, while many businesses are prepared for the stop sell and switch-off, others are less prepared to manage the transition.
